Biographical Note

Edgar A. Schuler was born on April 9, 1905 in Garner, Iowa. He attended Morningside College and earned his Bachelor's degree. He then went on to get his M.A. from the University of Minnesota and his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He taught at Louisiana State University and Wayne State University, and worked for the Bureau of Agricultural Economics before coming to Michigan State University. He was married to Kathryn R. Schuler and had three children: John, Virginia, and Kathryn. He died on July 13, 1999.

Scope and Contents note

The Edgar Schuler papers contains articles, reports, and publications written by Schuler. Topics include Pakistan Academy for Rural Development, Comilla; sociology, and a few about race, social relations, health, and rural people. Also included is a microfilm of the diary Schuler wrote while an advisor to the Pakistan Academy for Village Development, Comilla, East Pakistan. There is also a small amount of correspondence.
