Historical Note

The "Save Our Sparty" ad hoc committee was formed in the late 1980s to spearhead restoration of the Spartan statue at Michigan State University. The work was completed by Robert W. Pringle of New York City, a conservator of sculpture and architectural artwork.

This collection consists of photocopied correspondence from Robert W. Pringle, sculpture conservator, to Jack Seibold, the "Save Our Sparty" Committee chairperson, concerning the Spartan's condition, and his proposed treatment.
